Previa Dvd Intermittent Oil Light Help!

A week ago our 2003 Previa D4D started showing an intermittent oil pressure light. No knocking from the engine, however, but to be safe I parked it up and left it until today.

Today our mobile mechanic came and changed the oil filter (genuine Toyota part), the oil (fully synthetic, correct grade) and the oil pressure light switch.

All of that done, the oil light is still showing! We took it for a drive and when idling the light stays off. It just starts to flash when under any power, sometimes coming on steady. When power is taken off and it’s idling again – the light goes off!

At all times the engine sounds and performs as normal.

Apart from this test run, I don’t want to take it out again until I’m sure it’s sorted. But does anyone have an idea what it might be? Why is the pressure enough to put the light out when idling but not when under power? I would have thought the pressure would rise if anything when under power.

Any ideas?
