Car Broken.. Help

Hey Guys,

So my car keeps jumping out of 5th Gear, my dad is a mechanic and has had a look at it for me and he said

"I have striped the fifth gear out and believe I have found the the problem, I have checked the cables and the linkage and it is all fine. I striped the gearbox and the gear is all chipped so i need to get a new fifth gear and put it in."

What I really would like to know is if this is a common problem with the Toyota Rav 4 and if their is a kit to repair it.

If anyone can help that would be appreciated.

Thank You

HI

Welcome to the forum.

It would help if you updated your car details so that we can see your model year etc. :)

If its one of the older Rav4s then the 5th gear problem is common and this link should provide links to all the info and details you require to fix it.

Jumping out of gear 99% of the time mean you needa gearbox rebuild.

Cheaper and quicker to fit another from a scrapper.

Which could have the same fault.............................

Owners/members who have done the repair have not reported further issues.
