Very sorry to hear this Charlie.

You must be sick of the hassle. I have got rid of cars in the past for much more minor things.

Your car looks great but I can I understand why you would want to get rid of something that wasted so much time and energy going back and forth to dealers.

I hope you stick on the forum though

Is there any oil in the water or water in the oil? Any white smoke?

No smoke that I have noticed.. No oil in the water or vice versa..

Don the car was moved off the drive today but that was it... I have never ever seen any signs of water being expelled through the pipe on the expansion tank...

There has never been a pipe attached to the expansion tank while I have owned the car but maybe its always been missing ??

Kev. As I did not buy the car from a Dealer there is no possibility of them being forced to do anything other than take it in PX.. I cant of course even force that..

All Dealers will of course take the car in PX but the value of this 2006 car (T180) with 59.000 miles is very very low. This despite the fact the car itself is in mint condition and has wanted for nothing.....

I think the time has come to bite the bullet and send it to auction..................

How quickly did you check after you moved the car? I moved mine 20 metre from cold then checked the oil and level was the same as yours in the photo. I let it sit for 10 mins and the level was almost back up to full.

As soon as the engine turns over it pulls the oil up into the system.

Just a thought.

Mr T should fix it for you FOC. If I were you I would take her in and get it looked at then write a politely worded letter to Toyota GB explaining the full story and see what they say.

Really hope it gets sorted mate.

EDIT: I missed the second page of posts. Oops. Ignore all except the last para.

Hi Charlie,

When I take my pressure cap off and sniff it,it smells of exhaust fumes.

as I said be fore it failed it's block test.

I'm very sorry for you Charlie and knowing what care you take for your cars its more frustrating, 1st engine you can accept, 2nd engine .....heq, but the 3rd now very difficult to accept.

I would take it back to the dealer and see what do they come up to but I would definitively write a polite letter to Toyota UK and express your disappointment with them and also that you'll definitively won't trust an other replacement.

When mine went off at 42K just when I imported it from UK, the only symptoms I noticed where the purging of coolant from the nozzle of the header tank and that black carbon buildup inside the header tank.

My local dealer at first didn't admit it was a common problem on these engines and reused to take any action but when I took the case to Toyota UK, after an advice from a forum member, things were different then and they called me in for an engine replacement and thank God its passed already a year and 2500 miles on it and looks great. One thing I did is I blanked off the EGR because I believe it have to do something with the head failure and even with the EGR blanked I have a smoother engine at low revs and a better fuel consumption, but that's my personal opinion.

Well sincerely, hope you'll get this sorted out at your advantage mate, GOOD LUCK.

Just out of interest, does your 3rd engine (I can't believe I've just typed "3rd engine") come with the seven year/112k warrenty?

Even if so its still a "bad do" mate.

Regards,

Steve

In effect it has two warranty's. The 12 month one on the replacement engine and the balance of the 7 year 112K warranty so long as the policy is not changed..

I will not be presenting the vehicle back to Toyota or the dealer. The car is now to be sold..
