I have a 1999 Sienna with brakes that squeal. The sound is much like the warning sound you get with the pads are thin. Dealer says the brakes are fine (in 60K miles they have been changed twice) but that this model/year had a backing plate problem and that it is this plate that is making the noise. The quote for repair is ~$450. Since it is not a safety problem, it is not covered under a recall. Is this a straight line or should I be looking for another dealer?
