Servicing An Avensis

Hello all

First post here so please be gentle...

The father in law has asked me to service his 54 plate 2.0d avensis 125000miles, as it was dark at the time i wasn't able to get underneath and have a look.

Looking at the service book it just needs an oil change possibly coolant and brake fluid as well.

So my questions are:

Is the oil filter a screw on type or is it a paper element in a plastic housing like my volvo?

Is the avensis like the celica having a small panel just below the sump plug?

Is there a particular order for brake fluid or is it furthest away then work back?

Is the coolant difficult to bleed air out of?

Where is the best place to get parts from as I called main dealers (out of curiosity) and they wanted £21 for an oil filter which is a bit steep and have seen them ranging from £8 upwards?

Thanks in advance

£21 for an oil filter? Try eBay - you should get Toyota dealers on there - shouldn't be any more than 10-12 quid or so. Blueprint filters are good too - they can be got from most motor factors.

As regards oil filters have a look at this post: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/150963-if-you-ever-had-any-doubts-about-paying-for-genuine-filters/?hl=%2Boil+%2Bfilters. Send Parts King a PM to see what price he can offer.

That particular filter is a pricey one, PM me if you want a price, try and lump it together with a few other service items to save on the carriage

Kingo
