Rav 4 Ll Tyres

Just bought a 2004 xt3. It has 215x70x16 tyres on it. Looking through the service history it has had 235x60x17 tyres at some point.

The manual lists both these tyres as standard and yet they have different circumferences. Can anyone shed some light on this or say what you have fitted?

At the moment you are running on 16'' rims but a previous owner was running on 17'' rims. Both are correct for tyre / wheel combination. I may be wrong but 16'' was original and the 17'' optional upgrades.

Maybe the previous owner sold the 17" wheels separately or moved them onto another RAV?

My mistake, the previous tyres were 235x60x16. I assume the wheels are original and the tyre profile was changed when purchasing new tyres. As I said both sizes are recommended and yet have different diameters!!

I did wonder as certainly for model year 2002 215/70 and 235/60 (like mine) both in 16" were fitted depending on which model.
