Annoying Sound From The Climate Control

In my corolla e120 the climate control is making a annoying sound while it is set to about 20 degrees Celsius. I've seen that there's a rod behind the glove department that is making the noise by continuously jerking around. It stops when I raise or lower the temperature with multiple degrees. And sometimes when I drive, there is no problem at all! Like it has self healed, until the noise returns again... Really annoying! How do I stop this problem?
