Whole Kit To Be Re-fitted

Recommended Posts

:censor:

Ive been saying it all the time havnt I - that seal / edge where the kit joins to the body just didnt look right.

Apart from the grotty edge in some parts, Been watching it gradually split & crack. Until yesterday a chunk came off .

Whatever they used to seal it is soft and rubbery. Its clear they used totally the wrong stuff and not used appropriate primer required to make the paint want to stick to it.

Result ..... ALL that sealant has to be dug out, re-sealed and the kit re-painting

I still have yet to see the invoice for the work carried out, and the guy also was supposed to give a years guarantee.

Had it back once for rust around the headlight, offside edge of kit cleaning up and the bonet top edge painting to be finished. ....... what I got was a bill for the work instead of guaranteed, they just sanded/polished the bonet edge in instead of painting it and even sanded through way too thin on one bit. and whats the point of cleaning up an edging that I KNOW has that rubbish in it and the paint will crack. Also a bubble on one of the bumps they re-did, bubbling round my petrol flap where he sorted a chip, and rust around the front offside wheel arch.

Plan: my mates need to go talk to him and get me my invoice, although I have all emails and his pics sent all here to prove he did the work.

Theres NO WAY my car is going near that place again

If we cant come to an amicable arrangement then the trading standards are coming into this and he will be paying my bodyshop bills

I was just about to splurge out on a set of 18" alloys - but cant because probably will have to fork out for painting.

Decided most likely will do the back bumper thats worst myself (after japfest)- do it with fiberglass and send it off to paint when ready to get it perfect, save time of not being without my car and to cut the costs.

been thinking about it this morning.

The job wasnt great to start with - but for 800 for all of this doing and the fact he coant manage to do simple touch ups without it coming back worse - thought ah weel I can just tidy it up in my own time

This is different..... This is basically an entire re-fit because of the crap he used to fit it. therefore am totally robbed of the full amount the way I see it

So, rather than go down to see him with the car he is going to get an extensive email detailling his poor job... let him a chance to offer an arragement

Meanwhile - whats the certification called for qualified bodyshop car sprayers please!

I fully intend on sending a full detail and complaint to those people too, also trading standards if he doesnt do it all, and do it all right, (not something I want cos I dont want him near the car now). or plain and simple I want a full refund to enable me to get it rectified.

Suggestions on how to go about this will be appreciated - this is pretty serious, and I cant allow myself to be robbed... plus any problems that may arise with my was new £1300 body kit due to being re done.... somehow £800 damage wont sort it am thinking

Please offer any suggestions now cos I cant sit on this.... will be wanting to go out an SORT it tomorrow

Will be writing report later and posting it up

I wasn't too happy wit the work my bodyshop done on my car. But I spoke with them etc and it's back there today getting sorted.

I know you don't want to take it back there tho.... but try to get them to sort it. If they are decent chaps they should do.

Its in need of an ENTIRE re-fitting - not a case of tidy and sort out.

also has done bits - and wanted paying, plus an extremely poor job

so this is a bit more than - 'not happy with bits' here

tbh i dont think u have legal grounds here... cos he did technically do the job, altho to a crap standard. however... i do think u'll have a leg to stand on if u have the guarantee, then u can get it all fixed for free / money back etc depending on the terms of said guarantee.

Unfortunately trading standards will say that you must give him chance to rectify the job before taking it elsewhere :(

The first thing to do is phone them and log your complaint and then send a letter to the bodyshop listing all the faults and give them a time of 3 weeks to recitfy the mistakes, if they have not got back to you in 3 weeks then you call back trading standards who will then ask you to get 3 quotes for the job to be done properly. Once that is done TS will write to them advising them that if the work isn't carried out that they will be taken to the county court for all loss's incurred by yourself to put the car right. If then they still haven't carried out the work TS will then ask you to get the job done correctly and take them to court for the loss's.

I'd get on the phone now if i was you and have the first letter in the post by teatime

Like everyone around the world, Toyota is watching the ongoing developments in Ukraine with great concern for the safety of people of Ukraine and hopes for a safe return to peace as soon as possible

As a company with operations in Ukraine and Russia, our priority in dealing with this crisis is to ensure the safety of all our team members, retailer staff, and supply chain partners.

We are also monitoring global developments and will make necessary decisions as required.

The business status of Toyota’s European operations is as follows:

Toyota Ukraine has stopped all activities as of 24 February (Toyota Ukraine = sales and after sales operations; 37 retail locations; distributor owned by Sumitomo Corp.)

Toyota Motor Russia will stop production at its St-Petersburg plant from 4 March and has stopped imports of vehicles, until further notice, due to supply chain disruptions (Toyota Russia = sales and after sales operations; 168 retail locations; and one plant in St Petersburg manufacturing RAV4 and Camry models for the Russian market with exports to Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia)

Other manufacturing and sales operations in the rest of Europe are not impacted.

Toyota affiliates in countries bordering Ukraine have already taken concrete actions to support Ukrainian employees and their families, including facilitating the transfer of close family members from Ukraine to other destinations with the provision of accommodation, food, and other support to meet their needs. Further humanitarian support is being planned and will be announced in due course.
