Hi all, not been around for a long time on here! A family members got a 2006 avensis that has a vibrating/rattle type noise from 1000-2000 ish rpm that happens both in gear driving and at idle. Best way to describe it wouod be a loose aluminium cover vibrating rapidly? Do have a video but not sure if im able to put it up here? Thanks in advance for any suggestions

or could be release bearing or if its a facelift 1ad engine there is a rattle that comes from the airbox, hold down the airbox see if it goes away? or if its the 1cd-ftv engine it could be the aircon pump, put the aircon pump on and see if it goes away.

if you cannot upload on here, upload it to youtube and post link on here.

Cheers mate, apologies for the late reply, not checked emails in a few days. Its not the clutch, have already tried that, believe its not the facelifted model (cambelt not chain, no indicators in door mirrors) will check the air con pump and get back to you, will also upload the video to youtube. Thanks again

no problem. if its the old 1cd-ftv engine belt driven engine, most likely to be air-con pump gone. you have a few options. cheapest option is to bypass the aircon with a smaller belt. belt size you will need is 5(ribs) x 1,1100.00 mm,(if you give these measurements to a belt supplier they should find you one with no problems). ADL part number AD05R1110 if needed.

There was a post earlier this year with someone advising that the bearing can be replaced item number 150958827216. Personally I have not tried this.

other option is new pump or get it re-furbished or even get a used one from a breakers yard but ideally off a low mileage car.

Toyota don't supply the part that goes faulty they just supply the whole air-con pump.

I hope this helps.

Have checked as per your suggestion turning on the air-con pump to notice the noise almost gone! Come to think of it, she had said the air conditioning doesnt work, despite it being recently recharged. Cheers for the part numbers too! They will come in handy sometime soon i should think. Owner of the car not too fussed about it at the moment, but im sure she will be if it gets worse. Thanks again!

Will probably start a new thread, but the corolla's also got a whine/scrape noise on the left hand side. 89bhp 1cd-ftv engine. No number of ancillarys turned on etc makes a difference. Sounds like its almost definately coming from the top aux belt tensioner. Any ideas on this? Cheers
