Worn Timing Belt?

It's entirely normal to see the metal banding on the edges of the timing belt. Belts are designed to last significantly longer than the recommended service intervals. Swapping them over at the advised time will minimise the risk of premature failure. None of the belts I've changed have ever shown any signs of wear. If you can't be sure when it was last changed it would be prudent to get it done.
