Clutch Problem

I've read a lot of about clutch problems but thought I'd ask anyway! My girlfriend has a base model 57 plate Aygo thats got 85K on the clock. It's got a full Toyota history but I guess that's not really important.

The car now experiences a tinny rattle and tapping noise when the clutch is engaged. Gear change is mostly cruntchy but all gears work it's just a bit of effort to get the car to change. The actual clutch pedal has raised its self about half an inch or so. The car pulls and moves normally no power loss and the biting point is still fairly low.

I'm guessing this is the standard clutch problem or is there anything else it could be? I'll be getting underneath after work to have a quick look before booking it into a mechanic.

I'm fairly good with cars how hard is a clutch replacement on one of these?

Hi steve, just whats happened on my Aygo today.. Clutch was hard to press, at toyota now and they want £620 to replace the 3 piece clutch. My car is a 2011 and should be covered by the 5 yr warranty...

See my post.

Hi all. I thought i was a toyota fan but have been let down by my new Aygo on more than one occasion. My latest issue on a 2011 Aygo is the clutch became difficult to press.... So i called greenflag out... Thinking i was doing the most sensible thing by not driving the car anymore. i requested a tow to toyota, but the idiot Steve working for Mansfield Recovery told me to drive the car to toyota 9 miles away... Wish i refused now...

Got to Toyota garage and I couldnt engage gear, hope it hasnt got worse...

Update; garage are asked for £620 for a new clutch... But the car should be covered by the Toyota 5year warranty... What a joke... Am i going to have to argue this, this is crazy, in this day and age we have to resort to complaining to get anything done correctly.

i havent called back and confirmed that i'll agree to this yet.

does anyone know if i can refuse them to continue with the repair if their not going to put a new clutch in under the cars warranty? They would have taken the clutch out and maybe the gearbox...

Will they try and charge me if i refuse to continue? Can i have the old clutch put back and tow to a specialist clutch place? Who is the ombudsman for this... I really want to go to Watchdog over this... I hope other aygo owners have. Is there an official complaints body?

Im really upset... My wifes been admitted to hospital today, im really stressed out already... Without toyota adding to my worries.

Can i employ a solicitor to sue toyota for false advertising of their 5 year warranty? The reason why most of us presumably purchased their new cars?

My car is 4 yrs old and has 29k on the clock... Used mainly at weekends for motorway driving.

Has anyone ever managed to get the clutch replaced free of charge under warranty?

Many thanks
