test drove a car today that i am supposed to exchange my car for tomorrow.

noticed when accelerating, especially on an incline, there was noise, like a vibration coming from the front of the car, the harder i  accelerated the louder it got, so suppose related to engine revs to?

any ideas?  don't want another duff car, one i am handing back, i bought 3 weeks ago and have rejected

I did that, one guy said might be a heat shield but will need the mechanic to look at it tomorrow.  Drinks holder was also stuck so its being replaced tomorrow as well.  guy said its costing them £100 to replace

the sound was like a loud humming/vibration seeming to come from the top dash area.  Noticed when going uphill in 3rd and maybe 4th gear, not sure about the revs, too focused on the sound, lol.  the more i pressed on the accelerator the louder it was, so possibly came louder as revs increased.  Didnt notice when going down hill or on the straight with acelerator only half depressed, so not high reving

  • 1 month later...

I also have an Auris (2006). Bought it around 7 months ago. It has always made this sound. Did you happen to find out what the cause is?

The reason I ask is because my car is over heating on the motorway and consuming plenty of coolant/water. From reading the other posts on this forum, I'm guessing it has something to do with the head gasket and the engine.

I'll be getting a diagnosis check on the car by Toyota this week. Dreading it already.
