willson 0
Hi, newbie here. Trying to decide on my next car and I am considering a late first gen Auris, but I've been rather put off by what I read about persistent brake noise issues. Did this ever get properly resolved by Toyota? Any other faults I need to be aware of? I'm looking at the 1.6 SR manual petrol model. Thanks in advance :)
yossarian247 166
Hi there, My 2009 1.6 TR has now covered 80k (40k in my ownership) and it has never had any brake noise.I wonder if it was an issue with the original pads/disks that some Auris left the factory with, and was solved with subsequent replacement parts? Brake noise is not usually mentioned on the forum as an issue. The only common fault with these seems to be water leaks into the boot. Mine was suffering with this when I first bought it and was fixed by me running a bead of clear silicone sealant around the rear light clusters! Otherwise the petrol engined Auris is generally very reliable.
FROSTYBALLS 3,438
As far as I'm aware the brake noise issue largely affected Auris around the 2007-08 vintage. I had a 2009 and 2012 Auris from new and never had an issue with brake noise. The only issues I had were a broken cupholder (2009) and a failed tailgate strut (2012) - both fixed under warranty. Catlover 713
My 2010 Auris Hybrid has no noise problems, no rattles, no squeaks. Only had just less then 4 months but ok at the moment.
