Tyres of the Bus Ed vs. Excel

 Hi Guys,

In short the question is, has anyone driven both the 55 16s and the 45 17 tyres and is the difference in comfort negledgable?

I am days away from choosing my Auris Hybrid (facelift). And I am torn between the Bussiness Edition and the Excel variant. I am also excluding the prefacelift as I understand the suspension has been upgraded.

I am reluctant to change tyres and wheels after market for several reasons including lack of space to keep the spares, insurance and simply cost. I understand that tyres also are a big variable and there is no straight answer but your personal oppinion is greatly appreciated :)

I would gladly sacrifice the front and back parking sensors, auto park and other toys if the ride comfort is significantly better on the 16s.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

Moved to the Auris club.

The mid life facelift of 2015 included some revisions to the steering and suspension to improve ride comfort and handling.

If you get Excel then technically you can't go lower than 17 inch since Toyota claim that it's against type approval for that model and will refuse warranty work. As for how they ride, Excel is not bad at all, it's firm but not too firm. You'd be losing out on quite a few goodies if you went for the on Excel spec, not worth it for wheels only in my opinion.
