Does anyone know of any plans to put the current Prius drive train into the Auris or is this car being allowed to fade away now that the C-HR is here ?

Toyota are supposedly basing the 3rd generation Auris on their modular TNGA structure, and will feature the latest hybrid system.

Sales in the UK of the C-HR and the Auris are roughly equal at around 14,000 per year each, so it is unlikely they will drop the Auris, especially as it shares a lot with the Corolla saloon. Whether the Auris will continue to be built at Burnaston depends partly on what happens with Brexit.

For 2018 the Auris UK range has been trimmed down to just the 1.2t and the hybrid, and the base Active spec has been deleted - which may indicate the 3rd generation will be released later this year.

More at risk will be the Verso - sales in the UK are less than 2,500 - as the MPV market is in decline due to the impact of SUV's. There has been speculation that a new SUV will replace the Prius+ and the Verso, to slot in between the C-HR crossover and the Rav4 SUV.

Spot on Frosty Verso is being dropped, Factory orders have closed so only depot stock left now, A 2018 Prius + is soon to be announced but as yet we do not knowif it is a model change of the current model or the all new Prius+

Avensis is also going with factory orders ending next month next month, at present Toyota do not plan to offer a direct replacement.

As for new Auris it is expected late this year/ early next.

In today's Autocar, they are speculating that the Corolla name will return on the Auris replacement, and also that the Corolla saloon may be an indirect replacement for the Avensis.

The current Corolla saloon is built on the same size wheelbase as the Avensis (2700mm) as opposed the the Auris'wheelbase of 2600mm. It is also currently produced in RHD form for the Irish market, so could be brought into the UK earlier than the replacement Auris.
