We PASSED the MOT

SAM LOVERS HER TOYOTAS

Yay...my other half lost some sleep last night in preperation for his 1st mot via an independant mot station since ownership...it was mot’d and serviced via the dealership for the last two years due to the warranty that he bought, and decided against it this year as he’s uncertain if he wants to keep his vehicle come insurance renewal next year.

Its more nail biting than going to the dentist in my opinion. Lol.

At the end of the test, in the testers words...thats a fancy one innit, he loved the car, admittedly we keep our vehicles tip top and very shiny. I questioned him on Diesel ownership. He recons we’ll be okay with it for another 10 years plus, if he owned it he’d hold on to it for life, he must’ve really liked it lol. It is a luxury motor yet its just an Avensis with leathers and a motorsport body kit.

The reason for my post, i believe, if you maintain your motor regardless of cost, which includes regular services and inspections, aswell as regular washing and waxing, passing mot’s under the new rules should be a doddle...in theory maybe lol.

Hi Sam,

Snap     got the old Rolla though the mot yesterday, but unlike you I take mine to the local council mot center,  normally part of their transport depots, where they really know Toyotas as they also have to mot all the local taxis, which get  a much more stringent test than than ours.

Unlike some commercial garages they have no interest in  exaggerating any problems and cannot even recommend a garage if they find a fault.

Yep, agree with your theory, proper care and maintenance bound to reduce breakdowns and failures.

So good to hear from you matey, gosh, you still have the old Rolla! Good memories.

Congratulations on your pass Sam, the rules for testing are published by VOSA so we all know what to expect.

https://www.gov.uk/topic/mot/manuals

All testing stations have to adhere to the rules and they are randomly examined to ensure they do. An incorrect pass is as serious as an incorrect fail.

Regards
Ian
