Help requested for names of spare parts and where to get them.

Hi, I am new to this forum, but I am need of a bit of assistance.

A very impolite Mercedes driver smashed my R hand wing mirror just as I had parked, I was still in the vehicle and ended up a bit startled - of course he did not stop.

I am now in need of a new complete mirror, though the Shell is intact, which is rather fortunate as the car is metallic light blue/silver. I have been unable to find an OEM wing mirror - I was told that my existing Shell will only fit an OEM mirror, not a dupe.

Does anyone know where I can get spare parts in the UK (Hertfordshire/Cambridgeshire)? I am able to remove it myself as my father was a mechanic and taught me enough to get by, but being from Denmark I am not familiar with the places to go for spare parts here - yet.

I also need to replace the interior L side panel in the boot as the part that supports the parcel shelf has broken off, but I have no idea what that would be called, making it difficult to Google.

Any help, suggestions, reminders, anything really is greatly appreciated. Being a non-native speaker I may call items by the wrong name, apologies. I hope my post makes sense, otherwise do feel free to ask me questions and please correct my errors, that is the best way for me to learn.

I have found that my trusted friend Haynes does not make a manual for my Auris leaving me to fend for myself, but I hope someone here can help me out :helpsmilie:

Oh, and does anyone know where I can get my hands on an owner's manual? So many questions, so little time...

Thank you in advance.

PS. My Auris is a T Spirit D-4d from 2006 - asian build apparently.

In the unlikely event that the link above doesn't work, then you could try this one:-

http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/eu/2012/auris-hybrid-ukp?utm_source=ToyotaOwnersClub&utm_medium=ForumLinks

This ultimately leads to this page (link) for a door mirror parts listing:-

http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/eu/2006/auris-corolla-jpp/ade150r-ahfnyw/2_165510_005_344W/electrical/8701_mirror#87931

It looks like the door mirror is comprised of just two separate parts: 1. The mirror  2. The painted cover

If a brand new part was being considered -

There is a Toyota dealer parts specialist on this forum (but quite a long way away from you) who can offer modest discounts on genuine Toyota parts, it is worth checking him out.  He is called Parts-King (John), you can send him a personal message via this forum to see what he can do to help.  He will need your VIN number or registration (if British registered).

Alternatively, dealers will sometimes give a 10% discount on spares prices if you cheekily ask.  Perhaps ask them for their 'best price'??

It might be worth trying 'Japanese Car Breakers'  MK45 3JE just outside Bedford, so not too far from you.  There is a chance they might have had one of yours through.  It's quite a small business run by some Indian chappies.

I would expect door mirror removal to be quick and easy, as you suggest.  The alloy casting inside will probably have broken in two in your impact.  Not an easy repair - I managed it on a Skoda once, but it took about 4 hours (and a lathe) to get it back together.  Not really practical.

Your post definitely doesn't read like that of a non-native speaker.

Also, respect is due to your father for teaching you how to take a door mirror off!

A quick look - the mirror is around £203 plus the back cover £30-50 for genuine Toyota parts

Is the mirror completely destroyed ?

A used mirror ?

Hi, the best to get is a new genuine mirror, but it will be pricey, so best value for money option is to buy a used one of eBay but make sure has got the original glass on it, if in doubt, you can just ask the seller before you buy. Also if you are lucky you may find same or very similar colour too.
Good luck
