What Would Be Your Weekend Project Car?

Even tho my MR2 still has a shed load of things left to do,

I would love something a bit different to work on at the weekends. I have the space..lol.

I would either buy an old Hilux and make it look mental. Bright yellow paint, prob cut the roof off it.

Or buy a cheap mini and totally gut it out and put a silly engine in it.

Need to focus on the MR2 for now tho!

Mini......no contest.

Cheap and mechanically simple. Easy engine to modify/tune. Billions of modding options. Most fun car I've ever had.

Got to be a kit car.

Unfortunately the regulations have changed a lot since the last car I built.

It was in 1975 I built a Magenta.

This was based on the old BMC 1100 ($hit I'm old)

I fitted a 1275 cooper S engine & gearbox with a 45 DCOE side draught Webber driven through 12" wheels ( O K you aint got a clue what I'm on about) It might not seem like anything special but in its day and up to the time of the Ford XR3 it could keep up or pass these pieces of cr&p.

The thing is when I built it nobody knew what to do with kit cars, not like today with SVA's etc, so after I'd finnished the build and applied for the neccessary legal bits and pieces, I was informed that my "vehicle"had to be inspected, so informed the relevant parties (plod) who the came down to inspect the said vehicle. The copper who came down didn't have a clue what to do but looked it up and down then said "Nice looking motor" signed my doc's then buggered off.

I only got rid of that motor 4 years ago. so if I had a project it would be to find my old buggy and do it up again.

Russel, bedford Cf, love your style!

i've got plans for one, pimped out inside and A team colours outside. I think it would be a seriously cool motor!

One mag has a shortened and roof chopped CF.

Im just waiting for the right time to move out and get a place with some mates and then i'll hopefully be starting Project Leeky which i've been planning for months now. Full on pure track only car.

Im hoping to build a spd200 which is a Ford RS200 Evolution replica. You build it using a Sierra Cossie as a donor car. spd-360-01.jpg

My plan is to build the car as a full replica of the original rally car but because i dont rate the ford engine as being much good at all i'll be installing most likely a 3S-GTE Rev3 into the car. 0-60 should be sub 4 seconds no problem :D
