Left rear door can not be opened via central lock system

Hi,

I am seeking advice here as the problem I have is not serious enough to visit car service right away.
The problem is that the left rear door does not respond when both locking and unlocking the car using the central lock system - there is sound coming from the door similar to sound coming from all other doors so "something" is happening, but the car door lock button does not move at all. It can be locked and unlocked manually, but a considerably greater force is needed compared to lock buttons on all other doors. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Just to clarify, the car in question is Toyota Aygo - the first model.
