2015 DAB Retro fit

Recommended Posts

Hello, is it possible to retro fit DAB ? I'm looking at a 2015 Icon which has nav but, frustratingly no DAB.... (a deal breaker if so..)

I see conflicting posts on the feasibility but there's a local independent specialist ( I'm near Stafford/Telford) then I'm all ears.....

You simply swap the touch 2 over for a dab one, or you could swap over the dab circuit board, also be aware you need to swap the aerial base for the dab one or install an aftermarket aerial

i see plenty of yaris's advertised with sat nav, but they only have the Touch2 touchscreen (The nav button is on all touch 2's)

Ok, sounds promising, thanks  - where do I get a DAB unit from  and are they expensive ?  ( I'm not technical as you've probably gathered...)

You can pick up a used one for under £100 with no nav module and transfer nav across (simply 6 screws and a few cables)

I would double-check if it does have touch2 with go (sat nav) as it's a rare option on a lower spec model

what yaris are you looking for auto or manual, Hybrid ? Colour ?

Thanks so much for that. It's a 64 plate Icon (manual, dark Grey) and yes, I was surprised it has Nav on it but it def does.... This is the only picture of it ( I know that's the reverse cam). I'm just a bit twitchy about buying the wrong thing on ebay... Would I need a different aeriel for DAB ?  I'm happy to pay someone who knows what they are doing if any recommendations....

I really like the car though - great history etc and I'm loathe to lose it if DAB can be fitted ( and a price adjustment made !!)

Unless you see the nav working or have a pic of it, i would be cautious as the nav modules can go for £250 used

My 2015 Icon Hybrid has the Sat nav module fitted . This radio does not have Dab . I have purchased a Hybrid Radio with DAB from a 2016 but no Satnav , What is needed to swop the SAT Nav module between the radios and will my Hybrid have the aerial fitted for the DAB Radio ?

TIA for any advice

Steve

Sounds like there ought to be a solution for you somewhere in there then - hope it works out.

I found a dealer ( Nuneaton) who thinks they can fit the DAB module so it's booked in - be great if it works....

Good luck as well

It should be plug and play the aerial base on the roof needs to be swapped and the cable fitted, or use an aftermarket aerial (note. the dab uses a toyota plug what is an SMB connector in a housing

Thanks for the advice I think a aftermarket one will be the easier to fit .

I have fitted the DAB radio I purchased and  attached the Satnav off my other unit . I used a aftermarket  Aerial Imwell DAB Aerial Car Radio Signal Amplifier GSM Patch: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics and used a adapter as the one on the aerial was not deep enough Bingfu DAB Car Aerial Adapter SMB Female to Male: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics all works really well thanks for your help
