nordberg 0
Hi, Back here again - now my fourth Toyota! The wife as a lovely 2011 Auris Sport that is in immaculate condition and proving to be very reliable. However, the head unit has gone from occasionally playing up to being completely unusable now. If I hit a preset button, the CD ejects and the unit switches off. If I press play on the CD, the radio starts scanning for stations.. it's lost its mind completely... So I'm on the lookout for a replacement. I'd probably prefer OEM and there seem to be a glut of them on eBay. Question is, I presume they will all be coded and require unlocking? If this is the case, how do I go about it? I've seen site purporting to provide unlock codes, but they all look dicey. Any advice/experience gratefully received!
flash22 747
They are not coded - if you are going to fit a touch2 you may need to do some wiring
nordberg 0
Thanks. I'm not bothered about upgrading the unit to a Touch2, just a like for like replacement. Something like this. Most of the examples on eBay are from pre-facelift cars. Do you know if there's any difference pre/post facelift?
nordberg 0
Seems 2011 onwards, the units had the option of DAB and were updated to model 86120-02F40. These seem to be much rarer and twice the price of the original model!! 😞
FROSTYBALLS 3,526
A DAB module was available earlier than 2011, as my 2009 pre facelift Auris had the DAB button as standard for when the DAB module was fitted.
flash22 747
Only thing i can suggest it remove the radio and have a look at the part number DAB add-on owners Manual https://www.toyota-tech.eu/aimuploads/{130D5D4D-8EFD-E7F1-B477-2A6C2B5D8EFD}/DAB_OM_EU_AOM074-0_dr1_LR.pdf The installation manual to help you look for the module (behind the radio or behind the heater controls) https://www.toyota-tech.eu/aimuploads/{06BCEFBF-83B4-A927-47B7-BFE1AF5A83B4}/001A_DAB_RHD_PZ473_00212_00_AIM_001_843_2.pdf
