Avensis 2008 hard start issue

I have this Avensis 2008 model I bought from a friend on 100K miles. Recently it takes up to four cranks before I could get it started. 

Please what could be the problem??

Is it a petrol or Diesel engine?  Does it have any service history? i.e. has it been serviced lately, does have a clean fuel and air filter?

Try to provide as much info as possible about both the car and the problem.

Thanks for your feedback, it is a petrol engine. It was serviced recently ( that was a change of the engine oil and the oil filter). Think the fuel line is dirty?
