Alloy wheels

HI, My son passed his test a week ago so the Aygo is now his and so far he is very happy with it. He mentioned he would like to buy a cheap set of alloys and has seen a 14" set from a Mazda mx5 mk2. Does anyone know if these alloys will fit an Aygo.   Thanks Colin

Hi,

here you can check about the wheels size by manufacturers and compare if they fit and here you can check any difference of the new size vs the old https://www.willtheyfit.com

my advice is to buy oem Toyota wheels and stick to the sizes recommended by the manufacturer in the charts above. A good set of new tyres may also be beneficial https://www.mytyres.co.uk

Any changes with wheels needs to be noted to your insurance too. 👍

Defo push the insurance right up adding alloys ...

my advice is to wait until he has a year or so of driving and his premiums start to become lower

You can always remove the trim, paint the wheel & fit Spacers.

Very popular last Century !

Thanks for the replies guys, we contacted the insurance company and after  a 24 hour wait they decided there would be no extra charge due to going from 14" steel wheels to 14" alloy wheels. As it is the Mazda wheels are no good on the front due to the brake calipers rubbing on the inside of the alloy spokes so we are just going to get 4 new tyres for his steel wheels and see if we can find a better set of  14" wheel trims.

Oooh, that's unusually reasonable of them! What insurance company if you don't mind me asking? My ones wanted £70 to go from 14" toyota OE alloys to otherwise identical non-toyota alloys on my old old car! I only got away without any extra charges with the change on this car because I went from alloy to steel and they don't have an option that quotes for that

The insurance firm is Insure the box , its  great for new drivers but obviously they have to have the black box fitted.

I’m looking to purchase some mx5 alloys, was it the 5 spoke ones that you tried that didn’t fit?
