replaced master cylinder and bled system,  resulting in a good pedal but no braking  when pressed

Normally a hard pedal which needs force to slow the car means no servo assistance. Best to check for vacuum leaks, and if the diesel, the vacuumpump is working. Since the master cylinder is normally bolted to the servo itself, has something been missed during the replacement work?
