Temperamental front wiper

'18 x-clusive. Sometimes the front wiper stops working except in the fastest setting. Sometimes doesn't start to wipe at all when I want to start using it, sometimes stops while on slow/mid setting. All I can do is quickly put to the fastest mode to see where I'm going.. Not fun on the motorway or in the busy city traffic. I noticed when it stops while in slow/mid the wiper stops about an inch higher than the bottom/start position (goes down and starts going up a bit and stops). By now I spot it without looking at it so I can react quickly, but it's just not safe to drive this way.. Sometimes when I switch it back from fast to mid it works, but mostly not..

When I asked the dealers garage to check it at last major service they said it was working ok, so they couldn't do anything. (..)

Anybody had the same issue? Thanks!

It's either the stalk or the wiper motor - luckily you don't have to pull the steering wheel off to change the wiper stalk

do you have auto wipers ? If so, disconnect the Battery for 15 mins and see if it clears the problem

Have you checked that the nut holding the arm on is tight? Might just be something stupid like that 🙂

Hi,

Sorry, adhd.. I saw the email about the new comments and answered it straight away.. in my head.. then I forgot about it..

The wiper motor was the issue, and the warranty on the car was the solution.. When the yearly service was due I complained about it again and that time it finally showed when they checked it in the garage. Was covered under the warranty, so it was replaced "for free". (It's nice to have a car with some warranty, but I 'got used to have !Removed! old cars I can/have to fix by myself and know exactly what is where and in what condition. Now I don't even have deeper look on anything, not to break something accidentally and loose the warranty. It's "less fun".. )
