Rav4 boot issue

My 2020 Rav4 had developed an intermittent electric boot issue. When I try to open my boot sometimes it does not hydrollically power the boot open but instead only releases it from the lock mechanism and then stops before blasting a really long beeping noise and does not power open the boot.

The only way I get over this is by manually shutting the boot again and normally and when I press the button again it opens normally. 

I am not stood too close to it when I try to open as this has occurred when also using the remote to the side of the car and using the boot button below the steering wheel. 

I have taken it to Toyota but they tried it and it worked fine. Is there anyone else experiencing this? If so, how did you get it sorted please?

I don't know what the issue is but if you have a smart phone do a video when you close the boot, then when it fails you have proof to show the dealer.

Does the boot make the noise that sound like it initially is trying to open the boot itself/hydraulically? Because the only time I have noted the boot making a long beep is when it is complaining that it has met some resistance, so this sounds a bit like the boot lock isn't fully disengaging, or alternatively the boot sensors don't think it has, and then when it goes to open, it thinks it is caught on something. 

 

Plausible?

Hi Mike. Yeah starts to open so makes the initial noise but it then makes a long bleeping noise and does not move away from the locking mechanism. It definitely unlocks but it appears the hydrolics fail to engage. When I manually push the boot yo close and start again it then opens fine.

Having the same problem with my 22 plate RAV, good idea to video intermittent problem & will also use these comments on my next Toyota visit.
