put a brick thru it and claim on the insurance, get rid of the car or buy an umbrella.

Funnily enough that thought had crossed my mind.

When I was working I passed this house with loose roof tiles (they were just lying the roof).  Parked below was a fairly new BMW.

Send me a cheque and I'll find you a safe place to park 🙂

Anchorman quite.

I had a problem with a cabriolet motor.  The dealer price started at £1,018 ex VAT for the part.  My garage changed £18 to fix it.

The dealer will go by a book price to complete a repair to the same standard as new.  A local repairer will do an acceptable repair for a car of that age to what ever price you are prepared to pay.

lqx913 - there's one question I don't think that's been asked by anyone and I suspect you might find difficult to answer.

Where do you go from here?

Your problem seems to be you're the only person saying it's a manufacturing defect so what's your next move?
