fault code P2463: DPF restriction soot accumulation. Advice please

Advice please as the engine management light is showing yellow & fault code P2463 has been diagnosed. I have tried several long high speed runs, all to no avail. There are no other fault codes showing but it seems regeneration is not happening. My questions are: is something defective that has caused the problem (other than mainly town driving?) & would replacing the PDF unit at a cost of £350 be an answer to the problem or using cleaning solutions seen advertised at much less than that? Do these cleaning solutions actually work does anyone know? I have been quoted by a specialist company £90 for a diagnostic test, which they say will identify what has caused the problem, then £250 for a clean of the DPF (which is carried out without removing the unit} plus extra costs if anything else required. They also say they cannot guarantee how long that the cleaning would last!! A reconditioned unit would cost between £800 - £1000.  Car is 2013 Yaris 65k miles. Thanks for any input, Chris

Hi Chris,

I can’t help much with your issue I am afraid but just to mention that payment of £250 + for not guaranteed work does not sound right to me. It seems like more of a profit generating for the mechanics than actual problem solving. Let see why others will say. Meanwhile you can try wynns additives, make sure you do exact as on the label and it might work and help you a bit, it is cheap and there is nothing to loose.
