2008 Aygo Start up issues

Hey all, was wondering if you kind folk could help diagnose an issue with my 2008 UK manual Aygo.

Recently I've occasionally experienced issues starting it up (about 30% of the time).

I turn the key and keep it turned, the engine does not crank. Instead the engine dashboard indicator turns on full brightness and the Battery dashboard indicator goes from being really dim and slowly gets brighter.

The first few times this happened the engine would start when the Battery indicator got to full brightness.

Today though it didn't start when the Battery indicator was fully lit. With the key still turned I press down on the accelerater and it started up straight away.

Any thoughts what may be causing this? I'm a bit hopeless with cars so would be great to have a bit of knowledge for when I call up a mechanic.

Thanks!

Edit

Forgot to mention, when it does start all dashboard indicators disappear and it runs great

Also have your Battery checked it may be coming to it’s end of life. Any local auto shop should test it for free, it only takes a few seconds.
