Can I swop my 265/65/17s for 286/65/17s for 285/65/17s with no problems associated

The speedo will over read by 1mph at 30 and 2 mph at 60 the tyre is also wider and taller by 20mm

As you can see in the chart below, changing from 265/65R17 to 285/65R17 will raise the gearing by 3.3%. It will also increase the radius of the tyre by 13mm.

Most speedos over-read by up to 5% on standard tyre sizes, so fitting slightly bigger outside diameter tyres can actually make the speedo more accurate.

It's easy to check by using google maps, which now has a GPS speedo built into the app.

If you're currently doing 29mph and 58mph when you're speedo is showing 30mph and 60mph, the bigger tyres will make your speedo reading spot on.

The Geolandar A/T G015 is an all-terrain 4x4 tyre, designed for strong traction in all condition. It features an ‘Enduro Compound’ that was created to encourage off-road robustness and resistance against damage.

The tread pattern of the Geolandar A/T G015 two different types of grooves – circumferential grooves and edgetec grooves. The circumferential grooves have been designed to deliver excellent water evacuation in order to reduce aquaplaning, whereas the edgetec grooves have been designed to create more cutting edges to increase traction in winter conditions.

To increase confidence in the all-season traction, the tread pattern also includes triple 3D sipes that change shape as the tread wears to maintain biting edges at all point in the tyres lifetime.
