Window Side Chrome made from Metal?

I wanted to check if any of you know the answer to this.  You know the side windows on each door and forward trim piece?  Is that chrome actually metal? The way it seems to be folded around makes me think it's pressed metal, not just shiny chromatic finished plastic. 

Since I got my car mines been a little off looking, looks like it's been washed and not dried, with water spotting / stains on it. Up close it's noticeable, I'd love to get it perfect.

I took some autosol metal polish to the exhaust on Friday just to see how shiny I could get it. About 10 minutes later it was shining!  I want to do the same to the side chrome metal  (if it is in fact metal) to get it absolutely mirror like shining
