Remote control range.

The god deluded

I have an Estima 2016. The range of the remote is extremely poor. I have to be stood by the vehicle on the driver's side for the remote to work. The batteries in the keyfob are brand new and even went to a Toyota dealer to make sure that the fobs have the correct batteries. The car door sometimes opens when I have the fob in my hand but not always. I have a suspicion that the remote control module is at fault but have no idea how to test that theory. Any ideas, please?

Have you a second fob/key?

When I have issues as I have lately, I test one fob against the other.

Fresh Battery, use a branded cell and make sure it is in date

you can check the central locking by using the lock/unlock button in the car or use the key in the door

A bad switch in the fob may be another issue - like the TV remote, pressing the button harder won't make it work any better
