Exhaust diagram for mk3 Rav4 2.0 (1azfe) 2006

Hi all,

My rav (as in title) has just failed an MOT on an exhaust blow in the mid silencer, that's fine, thought I'd swap it out myself, however upon getting under the car, the layout is not at all how I thought it would be from research so far.

The back box is fine, normal toyota joints and the mid box seems fine (is oem toyota) until you get past it towards the engine. All aftermarket ones for sale showed just the mid box with some pipe either end but what is currently on there is the mid silencer which joins to what seems like a small cat with no breaks or lambda sensors before or after it (what's the point then?) it then goes up to the next joint near the front subframe.

What gives, has somebody fitted something different or do I have a weird crossover year with different layout? I really don't want to replace a toyota cat, nor do I have welding ability at home.

Does anyone have a definitive diagram?

OK, I think after more research it looks like Toyota either fitted a parts bin special as the center silencer and cat is OEM, but appears to be from a diesel mk3 which has both pieces on the same section vs separate on the petrol OR previous owner had it fitted to replace the original and they found a good second hand Toyota diesel one instead.

The part number on the bottom says TOYOTA 12841 FUTABA. From the limited info I could dig out on this it appears to be from a 2.2 diesel, can anyone confirm that?

I've found an aftermarket OEM replacement by EEC that is the complete piece (mid silencer and cat in one) including fitting kit for £200, but I just want to make doubly sure that the diesel and petrol is the same diameter/ fitment pipework, does anyone know for sure? Please see attached photos
