Pre-lci stereo to lci stereo swap

Hello everyone,

Car in question is 2007.

Does anyone know if I'd be able to install the stereo from the lci auris into my pre lci auris? All the sockets look the same to me. And the only extra one on the lci stereo is the aux socket?

I'm assuming I'd also need an aux cable to plug into the lci radio?

Is it plug and play? Would I need the unlock code for the 'new' stereo? I know some German cars do require codes.

I'm only after the aux connection to connect my phone to. Would an aux adapter plugged into the cd changer be a better/simpler solution? I'm not keen on £80 bluetooth adapters. I'd like to have it as original as possible, with as little aftermarket parts as possible. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

  Hi Matt !

I would keep the existing stereo and I'd upgrade it with one of this interfaces, bluetooth adapter or USB / AUX adapter; both of them work great !

Anyway, face lift MK1 Auris stereo is almost the same, it's upgraded with some USB / AUX interface, and the fascia is coloured in black, it's not matching with your dash...

Only the advantage of face lift stereo is that has DAB radio.

Super late reply.

Thank you Tavey for your input. I decided I'd go with your advice and I've bought the cd-aux adapter and installed it into the existing stereo and it works amazing. Sound is as good as playing a cd. Super happy with it.

So for anyone looking to install an aux input to their stereo here's a list of what I got in order to make it look as OE as possible and on a budget (£32 total). All bought on eBay from China. Prices change daily, so it varies. But shouldn't be more than £32-40. The cheaper, the better for your wallet.

1. Cd-aux adapter

2. Aux coupler

3. Aux/USB port

The coupler is to connect the cd-aux adapter with the aux port. I specifically bought this aux/usb port in order to remove/unplug the usb wire so that there isn't any unnecessary wires.

The aux port will need trimming with a rotary tool if you're fitting it next to the mirror adjustment buttons. The inside walls are a bit too tall, so I trimmed the top of them to snug fit.

Cd-aux adapter plugged into the stereo, wires routed under steering wheel then connected the coupler and aux port. Covered the usb port with black electrical tape.

  Well done Matt !

Same as mine, I installed USB near mirrors switch and AUX male connector I directly plugged into Android Auto player. Great sound indeed.
