Battery drain problem Yaris 57 plate - HELP!

I have a 1.3 Toyota Yaris 57 plate. Yesterday after not driving for three days could not open the car with either of my 2 key fobs, I also once entering manually could not start the car, completely dead.

called recovery who charged up the Battery and got it running, took to my local garage and they called today to say that after dropping off they notice the heater and electric windows till worked once the key was out the ignition.... so hence, something is draining the Battery, I have decided to get a new Battery fitted (With warranty) and drive the car home, but the key fobs are still not locking or unlocking the car, the electric windows still open without the key in the ignition and the heater still works. I stopped to get some petrol on the way home and as my light were on when I took out the keys I could hear a mechanical whirling noise until I switched them off.

I suspect the battery might be dead again tomorrow but at least it i home. The mechanic recommended I contact an electrical specialist to diagnose the cause of the drain but this will cost 😞

I also noticed my electric speedometer seemed to show faster than what I was actually going... something obviously messed up. Just wondered if anyone has come across this at all, have any advice or can help?

Thank you!

A few years ago when had a Yaris 2, I had a similar problem... Sometimes the doors wouldn't open, and also some trouble starting the car. I knew it was a drain...

One day during night time, I noticed the right front headlight was slightly off. Tried to use the leveling motor, the left motor worked, the right leveling motor did not.

Took it to my shop, and the mechanic told me that the right leveling motor was dislodged from it socket, and was always trying to correct itself, hence causing the drain. And so it was. After adjusting it, no more drain.

This was my case.

Was the Battery charged while still connected (eg, a jump start) of disconnected from the car? If it hasn't been disconnected then do that - just take the negative lead off the Battery - for a few minutes and then reconnect. That may fix the 'stuff working when off' issue, though if the voltage gets crushed again you'll likely have to repeat the process.

(I'm suggesting this as I've had the same issue with our SmartForTwo yesterday when after the car wouldn't start the wipers (at least) still worked with the ignition off.)

Try to resynchronise your fobs.

About two posts under the post I linked is another post with Youtube tutorials. Sometimes the process can be a little tricky, so be prepared to try again.
