1997 Colorado - Warning lights through flood water

Could anyone shed any light on the following?

When we had the really heavy rains in October I had to get to a village which was effectively cut off from both directions

I had no choice but to wade through what was probably best described as a small river

While in the water I don't think the level went any higher than the axle shafts but if it did it wasn't by much, but for all the while I was 'in the water', several dash warning lights came on

They stayed on from immediately when I entered the water and went out almost as quickly after coming out the other end

It was the low oil level, timing belt service, water in fuel filter, Battery and brake fluid lights ( almost everything that comes on with the igition key )

Could it have just been shorting out the alternator?

It didn't seem to show any other signs of anything wrong

It's a 1997 Land Cruiser Colorado, LWB, automatic turbo diesel ( 1KZ-TE )
