Video over TNS

I came across this ancient video on YT.

Has anyone done anything similar?  Clearly there are two standard press buttons that need to be added - in addition to the cable, but I’m assuming this is just the Toyota iPhone connector.

If only the TNS had a rotary volume knob I would be happy enough with it as it is.

What model TNS ? The IQ had the 350, 400 and 410 iirc some can have the AV in, the one in the video is just using the reverse camera input

TNS - Toyota Navigation System

TAS - Toyota Audio System

it's just composite video in, nothing special

I’ve the 350 in mine, but persevering through the wobbly scope I see he’s got buttons down the LH side so clearly a different model.  I do have the reverse camera too but no external way of controlling it (drat)!

Yes you do,

ask your self a question

What changes the display when you put the car in reverse ?

Edit. The TNS350 has the 16 pin for the camera, it may have A/V in on the 28 pin connector

Socket or wire side of the plug

Pin 13 - Video +

Pin 14 - Video -

Pin 25 - Signal detect (ground to activate input)

Pin 26 - A/V audio right

Pin 27 - A/V audio ground

Pin 28 - A/V audio Left

to test this, ground pin 25 and the input should appear

Aha!  I couldn’t find an explanation for the pin outs (which you so helpfully included).  I’m going to look forward to some tinkering! 🤠

They may be active, they maybe not but that is the pinout Toyota/(Fujitsu)Denso/Panasonic/pioneer use from around 2008
