Handbrake problem

Can anyone give me advice I have lights on my dash one saying release parking brake and beeping noise in dash I'm told its the handbrake module is the problem from a mechanic he checked cables, pads,calipers, but all fine.

I can get a 2nd hand one for £200 but does this need to be recoded or will it be straight forward to replace I'm told its a common problem and that a new one would cost me the price of the car thanks
