Hi Ko, the corrosion isn't that bad and you can remove it with a small wire brush. However there are a few methods to do this but it depends on how bad the corrosion is. A terminal cleaning brush can be purchased online. https://www.amazon.co.uk/battery-terminal-cleaner/s?k=battery+terminal+cleaner

This video gives you another method

Also many people do this if the corrosion is bad .

Cleaning Battery Corrosion with Baking Soda and Water

Remove the connecting cables (first black, then red).

Apply baking soda over the entire area that’s affected by corrosion. This will neutralize the Battery acid.

Add a small amount of water to activate the baking soda and cause a chemical reaction which will remove the corrosion.

Clean and dry the area with a paper towel, and clean up any residue using a scrub sponge.

Reattach the cables in the reverse order ,

Hope this helps:smile:

After cleaning and reassemble or just clean it then  appliy a thin coat of vaseline.

What Derek said above 👆 is key once you've followed Bob's cleaning tips.

The reason you get the corrosion is because it is bone dry. You need something greasy like vaseline or grease to protect. I use Lithium WD40 spray, or whatever is to hand. Something thick like grease works well as is sticks and doesn't run or wash off quickly.

  • 2 weeks later...

I used food grade silicon grease from liquimoly for coffe machine, brake sliding pins, electric connections, and Battery terminals.
