RAV 4 no power in 5th gear Help needed!

Hello, I recently purchased a RAV4 2007 model (Diesel). I absolutely love it - however *** when I took it for a long drive I noticed when you select 5th Gear there is no power. It will go into gear but the engine just revs and ultimately speed is lost. It seems totally fine in every gear up to 5th. I admit, I dare not even try 6th gear. I plan to take it to a Toyota garage asap but I was wondering if this has happened to anybody before. I am assuming this is not going to be cheap to sort out!
