Closing a topic

Would it not be more friendly to give a 24-hour warning that a topic was going to be closed?  An exception to this would be where the topic had become subject sensitive, in which case a reason could be given which would be guidance to posters as to what constituted an offensive comment.  Just a thought for the moderators to consider.

Where there are complaints about a topic, this would be difficult.
