Engine light timing chain

I have a 2009 Toyota Aygo. The orange engine light came on. Took it to a garage who said timing chain needed to be replaced for £600.  This has now been done but the orange engine light has come back on when driving home from garage. Does anyone have any experience of this or ideas what could be causing it?

Was the chain rattling ? If you snap the throttle, does the idle drop too low or the engine fall flat on its face?

Hi Anna, sometimes, replacing a faulty component won't automatically reset the engine light. The garage might not have cleared the code after the timing chain replacement. This could be the reason you see the light on even though the chain itself is fixed. If you have a scan tool see if any new codes come up or take the car back and ask them to do another scan.

There's a possibility that the timing chain replacement wasn't the root cause of the initial engine light, and another problem is triggering the new light. There's a possibility that the timing chain replacement wasn't the root cause of the initial engine light, and another problem is triggering the new light. Hope this helps.😀

Are you sure the garage changed the timing set?

How many miles have the engine?

Back to the garage who worked on the car. They have worked on the car and they have to explain to you what is not right.
