Toyota Avenis car alarm sounds, how can I disable

I came on here a few days ago and someone kindly told me it might be a low fob Battery so I put a new one in but the alarm went off yesterday evening. Its an old car, 2010 so to be honest I dont want to have an alarm. I saw elsewhere online someone say to lock the car only using the key in the door and not the fob so that the alarm would not be set. Then I read somewhere else that this does not work. Any idea who is correct please?
