What does 'login to multimedia' on the app achieve?

I have been through this several times by scanning the QR code or entering a code (Head unit says use 'My T' App but I am using 'My Toyota' as that is correct for my vehicle). I get no confirmation I have achieved anything and it still asks me to scan a QR or enter code if I enter the 'login to multimedia' menu again!

Apart form that everything seems to work and I can use my connected phone for media or Android Auto. Is it just another example of some pretty poor app / software development?

It was fiddly when I did mine, you end up with two apps installed on the phone. 
 

my Toyota is the new one that’s supposed to replace MyT but I couldn’t get it to work without using MyT first. 
 

I was getting messages on MyT saying that the app had been replaced, but still had to use it.

The first, and possibly the most important thing for me was ensuring I was no longer greeted with the blue nag screen every time I entered the car.

But really, so much more.

You get access to these features in the app.

The ability to warm the car before you get in is a game changer in winter.

I find it pretty useful receiving a notification on my phone when I've forgot to lock up. If I get that alert I can then lock the car using the app. 

And if you activate the following Connected Services in the app, on the car's media screen you'll get realtime traffic updates and enhanced radio functions with song covers, and track and artist info for radio stations, and automatic switching to internet radio too, which to my ear sounds a bit clearer than FM, and far better than DAB.

If I were you I would persevere and get connected.

If it's not working I suggest deleting your driver profile in the car settings, and starting again. If you're still struggling go back to the dealer, they should have got this all setup correctly for you at the handover.

Thanks but I have all these things so presume I am connected but if I select 'Login to Multimedia' I am prompted to scan a QR or enter a code to do it all again. I assume it must just be bad programming. It would be more helpful if it said I was already connected.

My 'Blue screen blue's thread was also about this issue and I've managed to read the QR code with my iPhone several times but the blue nag screen (I like that) still returns to haunt me. I can find no way to either enter or to read the code appears above the QR that is supposed to link the MyT account and the car. If anyone knows how this works please explain.

I won't let it drive me balmy but it's a pain nonetheless.

I like that feature - thinking I should connect to Smart Services; currently I only have Standard Services and Remote Services connected. I haven’t done anything in terms of linking multimedia so far, even though I often connect my phone using wired Android Auto

If you're already connected to your car you don't need to log into multimedia again.

Unless you have access to more than one Toyota in which case that'd be the reason you can select 'Login to Multimedia.

Same thing happened to my colleague. 

I fixed it for him by deleting his profile in the car and going through the set up / connect process from scratch.

Might be worth a try ....

Thanks. I did wonder if it is because I can log on to more than one car but the 'login to multimedia' option appears in the app under the vehicle that I am already logged on to which is a bit confusing.

I took delivery of my new Corolla nearly four weeks ago. I keep going through this cycle of registering a driver profile, QR codes, sync app, login, delete and start again... round and round in an endless cycle of failure.... endless frustration, garage can't fix it.....  trip information on app seldom uploads.... keeps asking which language...  ticket raised with Toyota GB.

Irony is I've worked in IT for over 3 decades and I can't this to work!

Anyone able to help?

Managed to sort out the same issue for my colleague who has the same car.

I think your dealership messed up the handover. Probably easiest to go back and see your salesperson, or perhaps one of the other slightly more experienced and knowledgeable salespersons!
