Green button in centre console mystery

Hi, we have a 2023 Yaris Cross which has this green button in the centre console. Our 2022 Yaris Cross (pushy salesman gave us the same car on lease for a cheaper price 6 months in!) didn't have this and we can find no reference to it in the instruction manual. Any ideas?

Looks like add-on by previous owner. Does the green light illuminate when switched on, and does anything appear to happen when switched on? Is there a towbar fitted?

What is at the bottom of the cup holder, it looks different  but might just be the angle

The car was new so no previous owner. When we got the car it beeped if the button was pressed (lit up). We contacted the saleman but he was no longer working for Toyota so I gave up. Just been out experimenting and when turned on it's acting like parking sensors for the front. But this doesn't seem possible as we got a low spec that doesn't include sensors...

But does it have sensors?

Did you get the car you ordered or did you get  similar spec car, colour etc, that someone else ordered including after market sensors but then cancelled?

if it beeps then this does sound like sensors initialising, but more like a workshop fit rather than factory fit. Perhaps the car was ordered for someone else and was rejected.

That is definitely after-market; There shouldn't be anything on the little pad, it should be blank.

I have a strong suspicion it is for dealer-fit aftermarket front (and possibly rear, but those are usually tied into the reverse lights) parking sensors, which a lot of them offered on the lower specs.

They aren't integrated into the car's systems like the factory-fit ones, so you don't get the display on the dash that normally goes with it, but they just give the normal proximity beeping you get from front and rear parking sensors.

That switch is the same as the one with my aftermarket Steelmate front parking sensors.

Is there a wooshing sound, the sunroof flying open, and the front passenger seat shooting out when you press it?

looks like aftermarket front sensors, a very generic rocker switch

look at the front bumper for sensors 2 in the black grille and one on each side in the body-coloured part

put the car in D, foot on the brake and get someone to walk in front of the car you should here it
