92 Landcruiser Alarm Syst. Problems

I just bought a 92 landcruiser and it was running fine with no problems starting at all. The previous owners said they had never used the alarm system on the car but knew that it worked. We got the car to my house after purchasing it and were looking over the car and testing the alarm system, it seemed to work fine. We engaged and disengaged it a few times and drove it, then set the alarm overnight. I wake up the next morning and unlock the door on the passenger side with the key, without disengaging the alarm on the remote, and i unlock all the doors and load some stuff into the back of the truck. I get in and try to start the car but it does not start. Also, it seems like the alarm system is not working anymore. The Battery is new and it is not dead or anything, so I'm thinking it has something to do with the alarm system not letting me start the car, although I cannot disengage the alarm. Has anyone had this type of problem before or have any advice or reccommendations?
