Estima Buttons

Can anyone please help, and tell me what an ECT button is for, it is on the dash near to the stereo :

i work for toyota @ lindop Brothers Queensferry, ECT stands for Electronic Controled Transmition, it has some thing to do with the gear box but its some mad jap thing a we cant work out what it does.

let me know if you find out any thing more, i get reguarly asked this buy customers inwork.

I believe the ECT button is to give you extra power when towing or steep inclines etc. It changes the gear settings so it doesn't change up so quick giving you maximum pull through the gears.
