I'm considering buying a 99 ST, or maybe an early GT. Can anyone help me with any specific mechanical things to check for?

Cheers

Simple. Make sure it`s got a full service history. The more receipts the better. If your not too sure what to look for, take someone along that does. Preferably buy from a franchised dealer. Better waranty prospects.

Good luck. Happy hunting. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

simply driving the car should let you know if its a crock of s**te,listen for knocks and bangs etc going around corners and roundabouts etc,hit the brakes to see if they are ok,also check for steering wheel wobble whilst just touching the brake pedal once they get hot.blown exhaust system,colour of the oil on the dipstick.

check all electrics work ok,windows,mirrors,fans,stereo etc. i got my 95 gt with diddly squat history , haven't had any mechanical problems as yet after 2 years.

these cars are built to last - go on treat urself , the GT is the best option.

THESE CARS ARE BULLET-PROOF IF REGULARLY MAINTAINED, HIGH MILEAGE IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE/GEARBOX NEITHER

JUST CHECK FOR ACCIDENT DAMAGE/SUSPENSION/BRAKES/SERVICE HISTORY, SPEAK TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER.

THE GT IS THE BETTER OPTION AS THE ST IS UNDERPOWERED.

NO NEED TO GO TO A FRANCHISED DEALER FOR A CELI AS YOU WILL PAY A LOT MORE AND STILL NOT GUARANTEED TO BE BETTER THAN A WELL LOOKED AFTER PRIVATE SELLERS CAR.

GOOD LUCK WITH THE HUNTING :thumbsup:
