Hi peeps, i had my pagid pads and 3g disc put in for nearly two weeks now, everytime the car is rolling to a stop, it makes thishigh pitch squeaking sound. Iam suppose to let it all run in for about 500 and only done 100 at the mo... someone told me i should let it run in a bit more and it should settle down right?

:help:

It sounds like they forgot to lubricate/clean the anti squeal pads to me!!!!! Who fitted them???

As Karma said.

When the pads were fitted there should have been a layer of copper grease put between the piston and the anti-squeel shim and between the shim and the back of the pad.

Not all garages will replace the shim either...

But saying this, some very high performance brake parts squeel regardless of miles. This is mainly due to the compounds used in the pad material itself. But I doubt the pads fitted to your car will fall into this catagory - you'll usually find high performance (race) pads for Ferrari, Porsche and the like squeeling.

Take the car back to whoever fitted the pads and tell them to re-check and make sure sufficient copper grease is in place and that the disc/pad surfaces are clean. Then run gently for 100 or so miles.

Check my "how-to" on brake service in the Workshop submissions section of the site for more info

Now there's a surprise... NOT MrT feeding you a load of codwash

Make them re-do it properly and make sure they don't charge either

Yet another reason I do as much servicing on my own cars - that way I know it's done properly

People slate them, but I have had better quality service from Mr Clutch on brake components than I ever had from MrT

will do... i try put on an angry face

 I know i can't do that angry face but i'll try.... hehehe.

Sure they will do it for free like they said last time, but they told me to run them in first and come back if any problems, then they will get the car in a strip out the brakes and stuff again.... like he kept stressing...."we shall have to take off everything again...."

So i said ok ok ok, i'll see what happens after the weekend....
