Stock Sound System / Engine Management Light

Hey guys ..... im looking to install some ICE.... i took the car to a specialist, and they told me the supra has an "amplified" sound system..... i.e there is an amp located somewhere which needs to be removed and then better ICE could be installed :ffs:

is this true?? if so, how do i get to it ?

what speaker dimensions should i be looking at for the door Speakers and will i be able to get 6*9's in the rear speaker mounts?

Second "problem" ....

having installed a greddy type s bov..... some times when i really put my foot down and the car goes into high revs, when it hits around 90 - 100mph and if i let go of the throttle.... i can hear the bov go off, and then the warning light along with the engine management light comes on...... it stays on for a fairly long time (during the drive) , and both go off once i let the car idle for around 4 - 7 mins....

if i switch the car off (after letting it idle for around a min - 2 min) and then switch it back on, the lights stay off...

they dont come on at all unless high revs are hit at high speeds and the bov blows off..... what could it be? i know there is a way to actually do basic testing etc, but again, i have no instructions

help good people....

"He's got a nice car, lets charge the :censor: out of him" Have you looked for other quotes mate????

Not sure about the location of mk4 amps.. is there anything under the passenger seat????

AS for the engine warking light.... it might be due to "escaped" air from the bov causing the car to overfuel??? Not sure how the mk4 management works, is there an AFM before the turbos??

Edit: on re reading thats really not all that helpfull a post  I'll shut up now

The amp is under the passenger seat.

It all depends what sound system you have, the 8 speaker system has 2 Speakers in the rear quarter panel, are you looking to replace both?

You need to pull the fault codes from the ECU and see which fault is coming up.

There's a procedure for doing this on www.mkiv.com

Once you have the fault code let us know what it is and we can probably help further.

Now there's a suprise !

Code 42 is a problem with the vehicle speed sensor. As yours is an import i would put good money on it being a problem with the speedo converter.

folks, im outta ideas, i cant seem to find any info on how to fix the code 42 problem :(  :help:

Have you checked your rear lights, as code 42 is also the code for faulty rear lights.

It is more likely as Martin said to be a problem with your speedo converter. You need to get this checked out by somebody who knows what they are looking for.

Whereabouts are you?
